Basically I might like Damon again? Because I love how hugely manipulative he was in this week's episode? (though from what I've seen from a large part of the Delena fandom that is not how they read it :/)

Just gonna cheat and copy what I wrote to cranmers: A lot of what's been going on is also 'light a candle for the people you killed while ripper' which....erm....you're reading Stefan wrong? Stefan's just about as selective in his caring for people as Damon, so I'm not sure why he should care when nobody expects Damon to care about the faceless strangers he killed? It's just. I feel fandom as a whole STILL buys into the good brother/bad brother dichotomy in that they hold Stefan to a higher standard?

Caroline is flawless as usual LOL And while I believe the "we can't have sex because people died" was a bit forced particularly because it was a death-focused episode and we just had to cram that in there it seems like something very caroline to do.

I love how the Salvatores were completely screwing up helping Elena manage her transition because they were both making it about THEM to a degree (though Stefan far more so than Damon) whereas Caroline made it about Elena, which worked so much better.

OMG I JUST SAID THIS EXACT SAME THING. Love that you have the whole episode about the Salvabros trying their personal 'experience' card and making it about themselves and what they've learnt and the 'right' method and then Caroline comes in and makes it about Elena, about what she knows about Elena, and it works. SIMPATICO \o/ I think it works for me because they know the other far more than the Salvatores know Elena, so Caroline being the first one Elena calls and being the one to help her control her urges is exactly what I wanted.

In this case I was OK with the brothers's assholery because it was very clear to me that the show did know it was creepy assholery. In both cases.

Totally agreed, I think the show really went all out with changing the dynamic and making the characterization more definite and more subtle so that the in-universe perception isn't exactly what you take from the show itself. Loved that!

I also squeed a lot over the two tiny Caroline-Tyler-Stefan scenes we got, brief though they were. :D

I SHIP THAT, I EVEN WROTE FIC I THINK. Oh my god, I am so waiting for more scenes which 4.03 promises, guh.

I'm so obsessed with this week's Vampire Diaries, it's not even funny. Stefan trying to help Elena without realizing she doesn't want/need to be just like him, Damon totally taking advantage of her with the whole blood sharing, Tyler stepping forward to GET SHOT WITH A STAKE TO SAVE HIS FRIENDS, Caroline being generally totally badass (as always) and pushing Elena to own her new powers, DAMON AND ALARIC FOR ALL THE BROMANCE AWARDS... I could go on and on and on. So complicated, so messy, so perfect.

YOUR SUMMARY OF THE EPISODE IS THE ENTIRE EPISODE AND PERFECT. I loved how much of a jackass Stefan was throughout the episode (and also simultaneously Mr. Nice Guy), I really find him fascinating when he's oscillating like this. And ofc, Damon takes advantage wherever possible and has conversations with dead people and it's somehow the best thing of ALL TIMES. And Elena just wearing pretty dresses and vomiting blood and GUH. And ofc Tyler and Caroline being effortlessly flawless.
